The roof of the future La Pêche Town Hall - A first in North America

La construction de l’Hôtel de Ville de la Municipalité de La Pêche a débuté depuis quelques semaines et l’une des plus importantes et impressionnantes étapes est entamée !

Les ingénieurs et architectes ont intégré deux grandes innovations, une conception Passivhaus et la toiture en « dents de scie », avec dalles en bois autoportantes sur 18 mètres.

C’est le 8 août 2023 en matinée que l’équipe de l’entrepreneur Ed Brunet et du fabricant de bois Ambiance Bois ont installé la première dalle de la toiture. Ici, il ne s’agit en rien d’un toit conventionnel. On parle d'une première en Amérique du Nord ! La toiture est une structure innovante avec panneaux-poutres-caisson de longue portée de bois lamellé-croisé (CLT), en « dents de scie ». D’une portée de 18 mètres, elle est autoportante, sans colonnes ni poutres, solives ou appuis intermédiaires.

Le projet de l'Hôtel de Ville a annoncé jusqu'à maintenant la confirmation de subvention totalisant 5,42 M$ du Gouvernement du Québec, dont 1 M$ pour le Programme d’innovation en construction bois (PICB) et 4,42 M$ dans le cadre du Programme d’amélioration et de construction d’infrastructures municipales (PRACIM). D'autres demandes sont en cours et seront envoyées tout au long du projet !

The construction of the Town Hall of the Municipality of La Pêche began a few weeks ago and one of the most important and impressive stages has begun!

The engineers and architects integrated two major innovations, a Passivhaus design and the “sawtooth” roof, with self-supporting wooden slabs over 18 meters.

It was on August 8, 2023 in the morning that the team of contractor Ed Brunet and wood manufacturer Ambiance Bois installed the first slab of the roof. Here, it is in no way a conventional roof. We are talking about a first in North America! The roof is an innovative structure with long-span panels-beams-boxes of cross-laminated timber (CLT) , in "sawtooth". With a span of 18 meters, it is self-supporting, without columns or beams, joists or intermediate supports

The City Hall project has so far announced the confirmation of grants totaling $5.42 million from the Government of Quebec, including $1 million for the Wood Construction Innovation Program (PICB) and $4.42 million $ under the Municipal Infrastructure Improvement and Construction Program (PRACIM) . Other requests are in progress and will be sent throughout the project!
